Program Description: The automotive technology program is designed to give students opportunities to demonstrate mastery in the automotive field. The curriculum reflects the Mississippi Auto Dealers’ Association standards. Students who participate in this program have opportunities to gain entry-level experience, receive specialization in the field through cooperative education experiences.

Objectives:

  • The student will demonstrate his/her knowledge concerning the automotive profession and career opportunities.
  • The student will demonstrate proper use and handling of the tools in the automotive shop.
  • The student will demonstrate the ability to diagnose brake problems and correct them.
  • The student will know the parts of an engine, how they work, and how to diagnose engine performance problems through the use of the OBD II equipment.

 

  • The student will know the parts of the suspension system, diagnose problems, and repair suspension system components.
  • The student may have the opportunity to participate in a cooperative education placement in the automotive industry.
  • The student will complete the Mississippi State Inspection.
  • The student will complete the OBD II course.
  • The student will complete the General Service Technician curriculum and state testing.

Class expectations/Rules

  1. Come directly to class do not stop in hall. Enter room quietly.
  2. Do not bring pop or snacks into classroom.
  3. Wear proper clothing and safety equipment.
  4. Obey all safety rules and regulations.
  5. Obey all high school rules and policies.
  6. Do not cheat, plagiarize or assist another in cheating.
  7. No horseplay
  8. Make sure the shop/lab is cleaned and tools are put away before leaving. If we can’t find the tools, we can’t work in the shop.  If the shop is cluttered, we cannot work safely.
  9. Watch your language! You cannot use foul and offensive language in the workplace; therefore, you cannot use it here!        
  10. Keep your Safety Glasses on while working in the Lab! Keep them on and wear them properly!
  11. Be courteous to teachers and fellow students.

 Supplies

The following supplies should be with the student each day in class. Having these items each day, along with any assigned work, will ensure that the student is prepared to participate in class.

 Working parent e-mail

 Closed toe shoes and extra set of pants and shirt

as soon as possible so we can get your son/daughter off to the right start. I consider this document

a contract between you, my students, and myself and will do everything in my power to honor it

Students needs to have a proof of insurance chips, Medicaid, AIG, or private all I would need is a copy of paper work or copy of card front and back I will need this by august 20 2015 for the student to stay enrolled at the CTC.
