Unit 9 Competency 3 - Develop an individual career and academic plan (iCAP).
Suggested Objective a: Link the iCAP to the 16 national career clusters and to secondary and post-secondary education
The Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) is an education plan that details the courses necessary for a high school student to successfully prepare for graduation and transition into a profession or post-secondary educational experience. Each student in a Mississippi school must have an ICAP that is personalized to meet each learner's educational and career goals. The information that you learned in Choices will be crucial to creating the ICAP. Part of creating an ICAP includes developing a program of study for the student which suggest classes best suited for the Career Cluster that he/she has picked based on information provided through using Choices. The ICAP can be changed in the event a student decides to focus on a different job area.
Suggested Objective b and c: Apply the basic components of the iCAP to build a plan of study and identify, select, and print courses that meet graduation requirements and that reflect the iCAP
Program of Study
Part of creating an ICAP includes creating a program of study for the student based on the results of the survey that he/she created in Choices. Attached is an example of a program of study that has been created for Health Sciences for you to review. Take some time to look over this program of study; and in the next section, you will be asked to create your own program of study.
