Excel is a spreadsheet application in the Microsoft Office Suite.  You can use it to manipulate data, especially numerical, into an organized manner for data analysis and planning.  This analysis and planning can be done for home or an office.  Let's take some time to look at tutorials from GCF Learn Free for how to use Excel 2010.  As you view each of the tutorials, take notes as necessary on important concepts.  Many of the key terms for Excel were presented on the Excel glossary page at the beginning of this module.  The first tutorials are written and picture.  The last tutorials are videos from GCF Learn Free that are posted on YouTube.  Once you have viewed all information, you will take a quiz  Links to an external site.from the GCF Learn Free website.

Some people wonder what a spreadhseet is and what is the purpose for using a spreadsheet.  A spreadsheet is program that is useful for storing, manipulating, and presenting data - especially numerical.  It is presented in a row and column format.  Where the row and column meet, this meeting creates a cell.  A cell holds data (written or numerical).  Using the spreadsheet can aid a person with analyzing performance or planning for the future.  Look at What Is the Purpose of Using a Spreadsheet?
