A process is followed by people in designing.  This is called the design process.  Simple, huh?  The design process has steps that should be completed in order.  Let's look at information that defines what the design process is and the steps involved.  Click the links below and take notes as necessary.

Suggested Objective b:  Trace the steps of the design process along the development of an engineered product

 Design

In this section of our unit, we will learn more about the process of designing a product.  We will apply the concepts learned in planning, designing, building, testing, quality assurance, and customer needs.  One of the assignments will be for you to design and build a car.  Let's get started and have some fun with designing.

Using the Design Process

Scenario from Engineering curriculum page 23 --
You are an engineer for a company that is now under new management. Your new boss wants to examine the current products for quality control and cost efficiency. You are assigned a product to evaluate. Follow the design process to determine whether or not this product needs any improvements. Write an analysis report based on your findings.
